Getting started
Connect Google Calendar
Open MeetingWarning's Settings and click Connect Google account…. Your browser opens Google's sign-in: choose your account and allow MeetingWarning to see your calendars. When the tab says "Connected", you can close it. Add more accounts the same way.
Use iCloud, Outlook, Exchange or other calendars
In Settings, turn on Use calendars from the Calendar app and allow access when macOS asks. MeetingWarning then sees every account in System Settings → Internet Accounts: iCloud, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo, Fastmail and other CalDAV calendars. If you clicked Don't Allow, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars and turn MeetingWarning on.
Choose which calendars count
Your main calendar is on by default. Shared, team and subscribed calendars are off until you switch them on in Settings.
The menu bar icon
I can't see the icon
On MacBooks with a notch, macOS hides menu bar icons that don't fit. Quit a menu bar app you don't need, or hold ⌘ and drag other icons to make room. Check System Settings → Menu Bar too. You can always open Settings by launching MeetingWarning again from Spotlight or Launchpad.
What the menu shows
Your next meeting with a Join button, then today's and tomorrow's meetings. A yellow sign means the full-screen alert will show. A grey sign means it won't, and the reason is shown next to it.
Alerts
A meeting didn't alert
- Check its row in the menu. The reason is shown next to the meeting, for example "no call link" or "declined".
- Hover the meeting and choose Alert me anyway to get that one regardless of your rules.
- Make sure its calendar is switched on in Settings, and that MeetingWarning isn't paused.
Change how early the alert shows
Settings → Alert → Show: when the meeting starts, 30 seconds, 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes before, or Custom for any time up to an hour.
Keyboard shortcuts on the alert
Return joins the call, Esc dismisses the alert. Snooze brings it back in a minute.
Privacy and access
MeetingWarning reads your calendars and nothing else, and the access is read-only. Calendar data stays on your Mac. To remove Google access, click Disconnect next to the account in Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.
Buying and refunds
MeetingWarning is sold through the Mac App Store, so Apple handles payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
